“Youth of Balochistan is the most talented but deprived of opportunities youth of our country. The commitment of youth of Balochistan with Pakistan and Pakistaniat is unprecedented. Due to the flawed governance system, Balochistan is stuck into a myriad of problems. Government is going to launch the social investment program for the youth of Balochistan.” These views were expressed by speakers in a one-day conference organized by an Islamabad-based think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) for the university youth of Quetta. The conference titled ‘Youth of Balochistan; the vanguard of Pakistaniat’ was attended by a large number of students from different universities of the city as well as selected leaders from political circles, civil society, and welfare sector. Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal was the Chief Guest of the conference. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff General Zubair Mahmood Hayat was supposed to address the conference as Guest of Honor but due to bad weather, he could not travel from Islamabad.
Chairman PICSS Major General (R) Muhammad Saad Khattak, Managing Director PICSS Abdullah Khan, Executive Director Entrepreneurial Development Center IBA Karachi, Dr. Shahid Qureshi, former federal minister Roshan Khursheed Barocha, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Rameen Muhammad Hasni, and founder of Quetta Online Zia Khan also spoke on the occasion. A special national song prepared for the conference was also sung by a local singer in Naveed Baloch in Balochi language.
The Chief Minister said we have been stuck in a myriad of issues due to the flawed justice system, unfortunately, hurdles being created for honest people in the province.CM Jam Kamal said.
Addressing a youth conference titled ‘Youth of Balochistan, the vanguard of Pakistaniat’, organized by an Islamabad-based think tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies(PICSS) in a local hotel on Thursday Chief Minister Jam Kamal said, positive changes would emerge in our society when public representatives would be held answerable and we must have to face criticism,
“I am not criticizing the opposition but blaming flawed governance system which stuck Balochistan into a myriad of problems, without supremacy of justice we cannot proceed towards prosperity.” CM Balochistan said while pledging social investment program for provincial youth.
“State is responsible to provide basic facilities to all individuals but without speedy justice system we can’t reach the goals of development set for Balochistan.” Jam Kamal Said.
Stressing upon young generation to use the power of vote for change in the society CM Balochistan said, we must have to elect honest people in provincial assemblies who have vision for Balochistan, “We know MPAs have the power to elect Chief Executive of the province but we must have to set a system where honest members provincial Assembly could elect an honest Chief Minister.”
“Unfortunately not in Balochistan but all province have been falling down due to lack of good governance, everyone has been talking about PSDP and lapse of funds but the youth needs to understand the topic.” Jam Kamal said announced I would physically visit the Universities to informed students to aware youth regarding PSDP.
He added, there was a need for better planning I the pretext of ground realities but unfortunately, instead of public development, we were found of giving contracts for personal benefits.
Chairmen Pakistan Institute for conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) Major General (R) Muhammad Saad Khattak, said that a large number of population of this country consists of youth. Country cannot be developed without providing opportunities to this youth. The youth of Balochistan has great potential, the leadership of Balochistan should take it seriously. He said that when he was stationed in Balochistan as Army Officer a policy was introduced to induct more people from Balochistan into Pakistani Armed Forces. Now almost seventeen thousands number youth of Balochistan are serving in Pakistan Armed forces which is an example of their love towards Pakistan.
Managing Director PICSS Abdullah Khan in his address elaborated ideological dimensions of Pakistan. He said that Islam is the fundamental reason for the nation Pakistan. He said that tracing roots of Pakistaniat in Taxila, Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa or Indus civilization is an effort to distract Pakistani youth from its Islamic roots. He said that Quad-e-Azam never associated Pakistan and Pakistaniat with extinguished civilizations like Indus valley civilization. He said that a segment of scholars misguides Pakistani youth by quoting out of context one speech of Quaid-e-Azam which he delivered on August 11, 1947. He quoted many quotes from speeches of the founder of Pakistan which imply that he wanted an Islamic Pakistan rather than a secular Pakistan.
Executive Director Entrepreneurial Development Center IBA Karachi, Dr. Shahid Qureshi said that youth of Balochistan can illustrate the name of the country and province by exposing their indigenous talents. IBA has planned to start some motivational and short courses for the Youth of Balochistan in coming months.
In her address to Youth conference organized by PICSS, former federal minister Roshan Khursheed Barocha appreciated the work and services of PICSS for the country and especially the youth of Balochistan. Madam Roshan said that the counseling of the youth of Balochistan at their academic institutes is necessary at a time when there is already a sense of injustice prevailing in the province. We are standing firm for the united, warm and loving youth of Balochistan.
Role of previous governments about the status of CPEC projects was criticized by Rameen Muhammad Hasni, the special assistant to the CM Balochistan in his address to the conference. He said that everyone from the Federal government says that they know the grievances of Balochistan and promised to answer them but they failed lately. The present government is all committed to bringing the change in the lives of young Balochistan but they also need to learn not to be dependent on others for providing them opportunities rather they must create opportunities for themselves.
While addressing the conference Zia Khan, founder of Quetta Online and Balochistan Online discussed “Role Models for Pakistani Youth from Balochistan”. He said that he believes that a man cannot achieve any goals without struggling for it and just blaming the world for his/her condition. Social media is an effective tool for social change in the present time. It is worth mentioning that Zia Khan is a special person with his legs affected by polio but he did not let his special status from progressing in life. He discussed the various areas where he has been working and bringing change with the help of students as professionals and youth social change workshops. Some of the areas are career grooming and self-development activities, disability movement and empowerment, youth empowerment and leadership, Knowledge sharing, peace, and communication.
