Media, as the fourth pillar of a state, has acquired a special status as it could be the catalyst for rise or fall of nations. Pakistani media, particularly the electronic media, has evolved over the last two decades but still remains in its infancy stage as it is facing numerous pulls and pushes. Cut-throat competition and a rating war has created or abetted various socio-economic, political, security and diplomatic challenges for the state particularly when the media is driven or controlled by certain interest groups. In the given circumstances, the worst suffers are people of this country and the nation as a whole as certain issues seriously restrict options of objective reporting, constructive criticism and professional behavior having dire consequences for nation-building process. With the view to address various issues related to media, reduce the gap between various media-related public/ private institutions/ bodies, etc. PICSS is interested to provide an independent platform for deliberations and possible resolution. In this regard, Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies planned to organize One-Day Conference on 22nd November 2018 at Marriott Hotel, Islamabad. The conference will be attended by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry as Chief Guest while State Minister for Interior Shehryar Afridi will be the Guest of Honour for the event. Participants of the event include anchor persons of different TV channels, representatives of government media bodies, academia, and student community.
